Zeita is my homage to the Cucuteni- Trypillians Culture (which is usually called the “Cucuteni” in Romania and the “Trypillia” culture in Ukraine). The Cucuteni-Trypillian Culture inhabited Eastern Europe 5,400 to 2,700 BCE (The Bronze era). With the intricacy of thread, I have created Zeita to reflect the details in the ceramic figurines found in

Zeita is my homage to the Cucuteni- Trypillians Culture (which is usually called the “Cucuteni” in Romania and the “Trypillia” culture in Ukraine). The Cucuteni-Trypillian Culture inhabited Eastern Europe 5,400 to 2,700 BCE (The Bronze era). With the intricacy of thread, I have created Zeita to reflect the details in the ceramic figurines found in 1981. Were the markings tattoos? A kind of language? Objects of ceremony? Through findings on different archaeological sites there is evidence that the Cucuteni- Trypillians believed in a kind of sacred numerology, seen through repeated patterns on figurines. Due to the incredible number of feminine figurines that have been found, some scholars believe that the Cucuteni-Trypillians were a feminine-led, pacifistic society that survived through skillful trade.
